Plan Your Visit

Welcome!

Have an unforgettable day out at Highland Wildlife Park, home of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS)!

Set in the stunning Cairngorms National Park, the park is open seven days a week and offers breathtaking views. You will have the chance to see a range of native animals like the Scottish wildcat, as well as species from around the world including snow leopards, Amur tigers, Japanese macaques and Scotland’s only polar bears.

You can also drive around the reserve, where you will see many hoofed animals, including deer, elk, vicuna and bison.

With more of you planning to see our ROARsome animals and enjoy our outdoor spaces, it is important to be aware of what to expect on the day. For the latest visitor information, please watch our ‘What to expect’ video or visit our FAQ page.

Please be aware that it is natural for some of our animals to be active at different times of the day, so it's always worthwhile revisiting an enclosure if you missed them the first time.

Thank you for helping to create a world where nature is protected, valued and loved. We hope you have a wild day out 💙

To explore more of the local area, find out what's on in the Cairngorms National Park and discover Badenoch the Storylands.

Please note, there are extensive construction works taking place from the admissions gate through to the area opposite the visitor centre (shop/café) due to the creation of Scotland’s Wildlife Discovery Centre.

The hard standing car park is the main car park to be used by all visitors.

There is some construction work at the entrance to and opposite Wildcat Wood due to the creation of a new entrance to this area of the park. Access to the viewpoint/picnic area at the top of the hill adjacent to the markhor is currently limited due to the creation of a brand-new Hilltop Hub but both areas are still accessible.

If you have any issues, you can ask some of our friendly staff members who will be happy to advise on the best routes around the park.
