New Summer Club offers fully funded and subsidised places for Badenoch and Strathspey families

Highland Wildlife Park has launched subsidised and fully funded tickets for its brand-new Summer Club. Thanks to a £5,000 donation to the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), the wildlife conservation charity that runs the park, these places will enable more children in the Badenoch and Strathspey area to take part in outdoor education this summer.
The rising cost of living is further compounded by the often-hidden costs that come with rural life and is limiting access to out-of-school learning opportunities for communities. With this new offering RZSS hopes to remove some of these barriers and give more children the chance to connect with nature through fun, educational outdoor experiences.
Running from 28 July – 1 August, Summer Club has a ‘build-your-own’ format with each day following a different theme, offering children aged 7–11 the chance to explore the park, meet animals and take part in hands-on activities.
Jess Wise, discovery and learning programme manager at Highland Wildlife Park, said, “We know many families in the areas surrounding the park are facing real financial pressures, yet the challenges they experience often go unseen by wider initiatives and official data.
“We want to help families who are having to make difficult choices this Summer and, thanks to this generous funding, we are able to open up our Summer Club to more children who might have otherwise had to miss out, giving them the chance to learn, play and connect with nature.”
