Inside The Zoo... two

You may have noticed some familiar faces back on your television screens this week. Life behind the scenes at Highland Wildlife Park has always been something special and following our hugely popular first series last year, we’re thrilled the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) and our amazing teams will feature in a second series of Inside the Zoo on BBC Scotland.

This year, 10 brand new episodes will once again show viewers just what it’s like to work in a zoo. From keepers and vets, to IT and admissions, watch our wildlife conservation charity’s staff as they work together to save threatened species and care for some of Scotland’s most loved animals.

Last series, we followed everything from beaver reintroductions in the Scottish wilderness to polar bear cub weighing. Season two puts viewers right back into the action, giving you the chance to see exactly what it takes to look after species of all shapes and sizes, from our well-loved giant pandas Yang Guang and Tian Tian at our sister site Edinburgh Zoo, to a mysterious native insect, the pine hoverfly, right here at the park.

We were delighted by the reaction to the first series and the tremendous support our charity has had throughout an incredibly challenging time. Every watch, stream and share has helped RZSS reach even more people than ever before! This new series gives us another wonderful opportunity to showcase the hard work and passion of our dedicated staff as well as the personalities and quirks of the amazing animals they care for.

Narrated by Gail Porter, who was the voice behind season one, Inside the Zoo provides insight into a world where cutting-edge science, endangered species conservation and the completely and utterly unpredictable are a part of daily life.

Follow our polar bears through the breeding season, watch as our Amur tiger and snow leopard pairs are introduced, get a behind the scenes look at our off-show conservation breeding for release centre which is part of the Saving Wildcats partnership project led by RZSS working to save critically endangered wildcats in Scotland from extinction and so much more.
